This week's guest on The Annapolis Podcast is Mike Keller. Mike is a longtime member and current Chair of The Annapolis Human Relations Commission. The Commission accepts and reviews complaints on discrimination, makes recommendations regarding legislation and does community outreach. As always, we discuss the past, present and future of this commission, which was created in the early '60s. Mike has had a unique perspective of working closely with at least 6 Annapolis Mayors through the years, and we discuss their styles and effectiveness. We also talk about the commissions recent Report and Recommendations submitte to City Council on the "Relations Between Annapolis Police and the Community." Hint: Annapolis is no Ferguson, Missouri or even Baltimore for that matter. Please listen, subscribe and share this important interview with interested Annapolitans.
This week's guest on The Annapolis Podcast is Patti White. Patti is the Co-Founder and Festival Director of The Annapolis Film Festival. Patti previously produced for the CBS program 60 Minutes and she is currently a principal for her production company called Filmsters LLC. We talk about how the film festival started (in the backroom of the 49 West Coffeehouse), what to expect from this year's film festival (March 29 - April 3, 2016) and the future of the festival. We delve into the unique challenges of starting a film festival in Annapolis and how the Annapolis Film Festival is "Filmmaker Friendly" and "Audience Friendly". We talk about how the experience and escapism of going to the movies will never go away and how the whole experience of going to the movies is becoming more digital.
In this short episode, I talk about a new restaurant in Annapolis, the Anne Arundel County library, the weather, tourists and the obstacle course that is the construction downtown right now.
This week's guest on The Annapolis Podcast is the infamous Comedian/Marketer Tim Hamilton. Being the first guest to come on to the podcast twice, Tim doesn't disappoint. After two weeks of the flu, I decided to change this podcast up a bit and go "Barbara Walters" on Tim and walk and talk to him around Annapolis. We bump into the Maryland Senate President, among other local sights and luminaries on our walk of Downtown Annapolis. What happens when we see the Senate President is just something you can't make up.
Caution. Tim has a potty mouth so this one might not be appropriate for everyone.
